Craft: Coffee Beans on Canvas

I seen a similar idea somewhere here on blospot, but I can't remember where. I usually bookmark crafts that I like, but I guess I forgot. If you know where this idea came from, please tell me. I'd like to show her art as well.

So here's what I started with:

I found this at Goodwill [my favorite place] for $3 and knew it would be perfect for this.

Next step was painting the canvas. I chose white, but of course it's your design, so pick your color. There was also a little jewel that I had to pull off too. I let this dry overnight.

Then I decided it need a bit more attitude like myself. So I had scored some cream color acrylic paint at Hobby Lobby for $.33 and it was perfect for this. I used about a quarter size amount and brushed it all over the canvas including the sides. I covered the whole thing.

Then I messily covered it with more white paint. I wanted the cream to show through here and there, so I just did random brush strokes very lightly. Then I let it dry overnight.

I got my coffee beans out and started placing them where I wanted them. I didn't secure them, just decided how to shape them into what I wanted.

After I was satisfied with the placement of the coffee beans, I got the hot glue gun. I started hot gluing them in place. And managed to hot glue my thumb and fingers lol. There were some glue strings and I got really close with the metal part of the hot glue gun and melted them off. Like I held onto the string and then "cut" it off with the glue gun. I hope you know what I mean?

I decided to add a "table" for the coffee cup as well. If you look closely you can see a cream K in the middle of the coffee cup for my name. I did that last minute too. Finally I sprayed it with clear enamel coating to finish. The next step is hanging it up. It's going in my kitchen since my theme is going to be coffee.

I had a lot of fun making this and I plan to make more with different scenes. My husband and father really liked it, of course I'd like your honest opinions seeing as you're not related to me lol. Now I just have to find some more canvas's. Okay I hope you liked this. If you decide to make one I'd love to see it.
